ABSTRACT
This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the effectivity of human urine -purified fertilizer in activated carbon and neutralized in vinegar (Acetic acid) on Pechay (Brassica rapa L.). The researchers chose human urine because of its components mainly 0.9:0.12:0.26% of N, P, and K which makes it a viable replacement for synthetic fertilizers. Fertilizer is any substance or material added to soil to boost and encourage the growth of plants. There are numerous various varieties of fertilizers, a nd the majority of them comprise nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Utilizing urine as an efficient and sustainable fertilizer is a bright idea, but not its odor that might gross others. One of the most promising solutions is creating a urina l filter that uses activated carbon and vinegar as a purifier and neutralizer, which is both accessible, low-cost, and eco-friendly. The experimental sample will have three trials for each sample. To gauge the fertilizer’s effectiveness, the researchers will use a randomized block design consisting of four set-ups of Pechay plants per block. The independent variable will be the amount of solution and urine, which will be separated into four groups: Set-up A, Set-up B, Set-up C, and Set-up D. These will be used to determine the best concentration in accordance with their treatments. The control sample will have three trials. The researchers will not do any fertilization and will only use water to act as the baseline or control set-up for the comparison of data. The findings showed that human urine purified in activated carbon and neutralized in vinegar (acetic acid) could serve as a potential fertilizer for Pechay (Brassica rapa L.). The experiment shows that there is a significant difference between the experimental and control samples. Moreover, from the results obtained, it is concluded that the urinal filter is significantly effective in purifying the human urine. This is proved by a significant filtration in total dissolved solids (TDS) and by qualitative analysis of the purified human urine.
